One of the memories that I have is seeing a shrimp boat up near the old bridge at Blessing after the storm. Is there anyone around who remembers that? Did I really see it or is it a false memory? I was looking at Mr. West's series that he published back in 2001. I would love to see some of those old photos again. Thanks for any help you can provide, Cynthia Garrett (Bay City resident at the time of Carla. I now live in Wharton and keep a boat at Serendipity.)

There were several boats away from their intended docking spaces--the most unusual one I recall was west of Highway 35 near Foley Addition. That is the area that was blocked off because a number of homes had floated to the middle of the highway. I wonder if there is someone who could share with the Beacon what havoc, picture wise, a hurricane can do. Most residents of Matagorda County don't realize how fortunate we have been since Carla.

Posts: 1 (08/20/08 20:40:32) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I have a lot of pictures of Palacios taken a few days after Carla hit...a few I remember...The Loop or rather the steps where it use to be...Curtis grocery..Joe Tanners gas station..boats out of water...of course the Pavillion...several different angles... I was hoping my daughter would send them to me in time for the new Palacios book...but have not received them yet...she lives in PA I do recall some big shrimp boats a good ways from the water...but not quite as far as Blessing....I do have pictures of some of the houses that crossed the highway...
